The PPG Aerospace® PR-1422 A-2 Fuel Tank Sealant is a two-part, manganese dioxide/dichromate-cured polysulfide compound specially formulated for high-integrity fuel system sealing in aerospace applications. With a broad service temperature range from –65 °F (–54 °C) up to 250 °F (121 °C)—with brief excursions to 275 °F (135 °C)—it delivers dependable performance in extreme thermal environments. Brush-applicable up to 25 mils on aluminium, titanium, stainless steel, composite and other aircraft substrates, it provides exceptional adhesion, over 250 % elongation, fuel- and hydraulic-fluid resistance, and retains elastomeric flexibility after prolonged exposure to jet fuels and aviation gas. Its A-2 class formulation extends tool-time for complex OEM assembly or MRO repair tasks, yet cures at ambient temperature to a resilient seal rated to AMS-S-8802 Type I/Class A standards—ideal for fillets, fastener seal-down and integral tank seams where reliability and long-term durability are non-negotiable.
