The PPG Aerospace PR‑1422 A‑1/2 Fuel Tank Sealant is a two-part manganese dioxide-cured polysulfide sealant engineered for the highest-demand aircraft fuel containment systems, conforming to AMS-S-8802D Type 1, Class A-1/2. It delivers exceptional adhesion to aluminum (anodized, alodined, Alclad), stainless steel, titanium and other common aerospace substrates while maintaining elastomeric resilience after prolonged exposure to jet fuel, avgas, oils, hydraulic fluids and salt-water environments. With a service temperature range from –65 °F (–54 °C) to 250 °F (121 °C) (and intermittent excursions to 275 °F), rapid work-life of ½ hour and full cure in under 8 hours (tack free) adhesion strength up to 30–38 pli on multimodal surfaces and elongation of 250% ensure reliable sealing of fasteners, lap-joints, stringers and other integral tank assemblies in both OEM production and MRO environments.
