The PPG Aerospace® PR-1782 C-2 low-density fuel tank sealant is a two-part manganese-dioxide-cured polysulfide compound engineered for high-performance aerospace sealing applications, particularly for integral tank assemblies and fuselage inter-fay joints where weight reduction and reliability are imperative. With a broad service temperature range from –65 °F to +250 °F (–54 °C to +121 °C), it maintains elastomeric flexibility and adhesion to aluminium, titanium and stainless substrates even after extended exposure to jet fuel, aviation gasoline, hydraulic fluids and environmental stresses. Its low-density formulation offers up to ~20 % weight savings compared with conventional sealants, while its moderate-cure C-2 class ensures sufficient work-life for large-scale OEM and MRO sealing tasks before achieving full cure at room temperature.
