AERONAUTICAL WIND INDICATOR (AWI) – ACCURACY AND RELIABILITY WITH EVERY LANDING / WINDSOCK L-806(L)/ L-807(L)
The Aeronautical Wind Indicator (AWI) – L-806(L)/L-807(L) is a precision-engineered visual wind direction and relative-speed system that conforms to FAA AC 150/5345-27F and ICAO Annex 14 standards, offering pilots unambiguous cues during approach, takeoff and ground operations. Its support structure either low-mass (L-806) or rigid/hinged (L-807) incorporates frangible or pivoting design for collision safety, while the windsock is fabricated from UV-stable, water-repellent, abrasion-reinforced textile to withstand wind speeds up to 75 knots and ambient temperatures from –55 °C to +55 °C. The indicator features sealed bearings for ±5° directional accuracy at minimal wind (3 knots), fully extends reliably above 15 knots, and may be internally or externally LED-illuminated with independent lamp circuits for fault tolerance and low power draw. Designed for airfields, heliports, military and civilian aviation environments, it enables rapid visual interpretation, long service life, minimal maintenance, and robust compatibility with metal masts, composite structures, and solar-powered installations.
